Most homeowners put off replacing their entry door until one moment makes the decision for them. Here's what we hear most.

"There's a cold spot by the front door every winter. We put a draft stopper there — it helps a bit. But I can still feel it."
"I push it with my shoulder every single morning. I didn't realise how much I hated it until it was finally gone."
"We renovated the whole house. The front door is still 2009. It's the first thing people see — and it shows."
Porten supplies and installs steel entry doors for homeowners across Greater Vancouver and Vancouver Island — including Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, Langley, Chilliwack, and Victoria. Every project is a complete supply-and-install: we bring the door, remove the old unit, and install the new one as a sealed system. You do not source the door separately.
All entry doors we install are steel construction with a thermal break frame. The frame's inner and outer sections are separated by an insulating layer — this prevents the metal from conducting cold into your home in winter and stops condensation forming on the inside surface. The door panel is filled with mineral wool insulation. The perimeter uses three EPDM rubber seals for a draught-free, weather-tight result that holds up to BC's coastal humidity, Pacific rain, and freeze-thaw cycles.
Wood entry doors rot in BC's moisture. The frame swells, the seals compress and fail, and within 5 to 7 years homeowners are looking at the same problem again. The steel doors we install carry independent EU laboratory certification for burglar resistance (RC3 — full door tested, frame, leaf, and hinges, not lock-only), sound insulation (43 dB, versus the local average of 28–32 dB), and thermal performance (U=1.5 W/m²K, versus the local average of 2.3–3.5). These figures come from LIGNOTESTING a.s. in Bratislava — an EU notified body, not self-reported by the manufacturer.
Every door is available in any design, any finish, and any configuration — at the same price as a standard model. We order directly from the manufacturer, which means your door is built to your specification rather than chosen from warehouse stock.

50+ models available. We bring the full catalogue to your free in-home estimate. These are popular configurations - every one available in any finish or colour.
All configurations share the same thermal break frame, mineral wool insulation, and RC3-certified locking system - the design and layout are your choice, the performance is the same across all.

Standard single-leaf. Widths: 820-960mm. Any finish, glass insert optional.

Every feature has a result you can feel. Here's what our installations actually deliver.

The frame cannot conduct cold into your home. Homeowners tell us the hallway feels different from the first night. "It's like someone put a blanket on the house."
RC3 means the whole door resisted angle grinder, crowbar, and drill — not just the lock. Multi-point locking engages at three points simultaneously when you close it.
Local steel doors average 28–32 dB. The difference is audible the moment you close the new door for the first time. Traffic, neighbours, rain on the porch — noticeably quieter.
Three rubber gaskets compress against the frame when the door closes. Nothing gets through. We test the seal before we leave — if there's any gap, we adjust it on the spot.
We order directly from the manufacturer. That means any finish, any colour, any glass insert, custom size if your opening is non-standard. The price does not change. Most homeowners are surprised this is even possible.
We remove the old unit and inspect the rough opening before anything goes in. If we find rot or moisture damage — common in BC homes — we explain what we found and address it before installation. No surprises added to your bill without a conversation first.

Greater Vancouver combines coastal salt air, 1,150mm of annual rain, and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles — conditions that rot wood frames within 5–7 years and crack EPS foam-core doors at the seams. The steel doors we install are rated for these conditions: galvanised skin resists corrosion, mineral wool core handles moisture without degrading, and the three-circuit perimeter seal maintains compression from October through February. In coastal areas like Richmond and Kitsilano, this is not a premium upgrade — it is the baseline for a door that lasts.
"We'd been living with that cold spot in the hallway for three winters. I didn't realise how much it bothered me until it was gone. It's like someone put a blanket on the house. The door shuts like a bank vault now — completely different."
“Spotless install. Same people who came for the estimate did the work. No strangers, no surprises, no mess. And it shuts like a bank vault.”
Most homeowners tell us the same thing after: “I should have done this years ago.” Here's how simple we make it.
We come to you, measure the opening, check the frame for hidden rot or moisture damage, and give you a flat-rate quote on the spot. No pressure, no deposit, no surprises added later.
We help you find what actually works for BC - not just what looks good in a showroom. Mineral wool insulation, thermal break frames, smooth-glide patio systems. No upselling. We'll tell you straight what you need.
Our own team - nobody else's. We remove the old door, fix any frame issues we find, set the new unit plumb and level, seal everything properly against BC rain, and test every open-and-close cycle before we're done.
We clean up completely - not a trace left. Walk you through the result. And cover everything with a 5-year warranty on the door and a separate 5-year warranty on our work. If anything isn't right, we come back. No runaround.
