THE SITUATION
The original steel door was 15 years old and had lost its perimeter seal — a common failure point in BC coastal humidity. Cold air was entering through the hallway every winter, and the homeowner had placed a draught stopper at the base for three years without fully solving the problem.
When we removed the old unit, we found moisture damage in the rough frame behind the right-side trim — not visible from outside and not something the homeowner knew about. Left untreated, it would have continued to spread behind a new door.
